In our continued effort to build and strengthen the football culture at Aaresther Divine School, the team accepted an invitation to play a friendly match against Maryken School. What followed was a thrilling encounter that will surely be remembered as a turning point for our young team.
The game began in shaky fashion for Aaresther as Maryken capitalized early, scoring two quick goals within the opening 15 minutes. The early setback tested the resolve of our boys, but instead of letting their heads drop, they showed remarkable grit, character, and determination to fight their way back into the match.
Leading the charge was team captain Crown, who inspired the team with both leadership and quality on the pitch. Just before halftime, Crown pulled one back for Aaresther with a well-taken goal, reducing the deficit and giving the team renewed belief. The first half ended 2–1 in favor of Maryken.
In the second half, Aaresther returned with greater intensity and purpose, piling pressure on the opposition in search of the equalizer. Their persistence paid off when Wisdom was brought down inside the penalty box, earning the team a crucial penalty. Captain Crown stepped up with confidence and calmly converted, leveling the score at 2–2.
As the game entered its final moments, both sides pushed hard for a winner. Then came the decisive moment. Aaresther won a free kick from about 25 yards out. Wisdom stepped up and produced a moment of brilliance, lifting the ball expertly over the wall and beyond the goalkeeper with a precise and powerful strike.
The spectacular free kick sealed a 3–2 comeback victory for Aaresther Divine School.
It was a fantastic display of resilience, tactical understanding, and belief in the coaching philosophy. Coming back from two goals down to win shows the mentality and determination that is growing within the team.
